"Gilded Lilies" 24"x24", Acrylic and Gold Leaf on Canvas

I love looking through art books! I find it so relaxing looking at other artist's work from long ago. I became inspired to use gold leaf after reading about Gustav Klimt and his beautiful work..... Just an experiment.:)

"A Shot of Harmony", 7"x9", Acrylic on Canvas

This is the second time that I've painted this little shot glass. It's so much fun painting glass, I love how it distorts every thing when you look through it. It's also the perfect size for this single Cosmos. I actually looked up the dictionary meaning of the word cosmos and it said: a complete, orderly, harmonious system..... hence the title.

"Princess Dahlia", 10"x10", Acrylic on Canvas

I loved this little pewter jug when I saw it in an antique shop, I thought this big flamboyant Dahlia would look perfect in it! All sitting pretty once again on the princess dress.

While cleaning out my daughter's closet, I came across one of her "Princess dresses". I liked the pattern so much I decided to use it in this painting.

"Redness", 12"x14", Acrylic on Canvas

I've really enjoyed working on these last two paintings! Working smaller always feels foreign to me at first, but I'm liking the fact that they are a lot faster to finish.

"Winter in Ontario" 12"x16", Acrylic on Masonite

Well after a hellish two year renovation experience I'm now in my new studio!

I painted this landscape sketch as a warm-up for some larger paintings I'm doing. I've never actually painted a landscape before and I've never painted from a photo. When I paint my florals I work from life, not literally though, I change things around and sometimes paint full bouquets from just two or three flowers.

My next show is in June. I will post as I finish.

"Behind the Scene", 16"X16", Acrylic on Canvas

I love pattern and beautiful textiles! and I've been having a lot of fun introducing them into my paintings. It's brought back alot of memories of when I temporarily worked at a textile design house here in Toronto back in the late 80's. A ton of work went into designing and painting several colour ways for each design sample, all done by hand by the way.

"Narcissus", 16 x 16", Acrylic on Canvas (SOLD)

Another one for my show coming up in June! For some reason I really enjoy painting in a square format, the compositions are more interesting to me. My next two are also square but then I'm back to working large and rectangular.
